What we build in Barrington
Barrington was incorporated in 1865, and its National Register Historic District is described by the village as one of the largest frame-home districts in Illinois, with Folk, Craftsman, Victorian and Queen Anne houses. Remodeling a kitchen or bath in an older frame house means planning for what's behind the plaster: uneven framing, older wiring and plumbing, and rooms that weren't designed for modern appliances. We plan for that from the start, so the quote reflects the house you actually have.
Interior kitchen and bath remodels need a village building permit. For homes in the Historic District, exterior changes, such as new windows or a bump-out, may also go through the village's historic and architectural review. We'll tell you at the first visit whether your project triggers that review.
Every Barrington project starts with a free in-home consultation. Rafal measures the space, looks at what's behind the walls where he can, and talks through how you want the room to work. A few days later you get an itemized written quote with a fixed price and a start date.

FAQ
Remodeling in Barrington
Can you remodel a kitchen in a historic Barrington home?
Yes. We keep the character of the house, such as trim profiles and window placement, while updating the wiring, plumbing and layout behind it.
Does a Barrington Historic District home need extra approval for a remodel?
Interior kitchen and bath work generally needs only a building permit. Exterior changes may need historic or architectural review. We'll confirm with the village before your project is scheduled.
Do you work in Barrington Hills, South Barrington and Lake Barrington too?
Yes. We work in all of the Barrington-area villages within 30 miles of Palatine.
